In Search Of The Best Guinness In Cambridge - Part 7: Is This The Worst Yet?

Wow it’s been ages since I last did any Guinness challenge! Doing DIY in my house is taking up virtually all of my time. I certainly deserve a pint or two! We kick things off at The Boathouse. View from the car park  This was not a good start. One of the worst pours I’ve ever seen. No attempt to let anything settle and wonder why they are tipping large amounts of head out to get a full pint. It’s just sheer incompetence and bad training for the bar staff. The taste was completely rancid, 0.25/5, and the pint was abandoned. If you’re wondering why I didn’t return the pint what would be the point? The staff clearly don’t care about the quality of the drinks they are serving and I want to review the Guinness in the condition that the pub is willing to serve it in. I really don’t think this is a one off bad pint I honestly think it is incompetence.  Moving across the road to The Portland Arms, a pub I rarely visit and perhaps I should change that.  A solid 3/5 pint. Away Days 25/26: London’s Calling - Fulham

Wow it’s been a while! I’ve been really busy buying my first house and all the things that go with it! This wasn’t my first away day of the season but it is the first one that I have found time to write about! Fulham away is a cup tie I had wanted for years!  Let’s start from the beginning. Me and DJ decided to make a day of it and headed to London arriving at around 11am.  Our first point of call was of course to grab a pint. I love Craft Beer Co! Tasty! Sadly there was no Siren Craft Broken Dream on offer but a lovely pint of bitter soon made up for that. Broken Dream is perhaps not the most appropriate lunch time beer. We then found a coffee and wandered over to the London Transport Museum, which we booked in advance.  Choo Choo Fake horses with fake (hopefully) poo The museum was decent. Plenty of old trains, buses and other vehicles to see. It took us just shy of a couple of hours to get round everything. Since the transport museum is located in Covent Garden ...

Asia Adventure 25: Universal Beijing - A Water World That Features Stella

Universal Beijing was one of the parks that I was most looking forward to on this trip. The park is rumoured to be similar to what we can expect to find at Universal Great Britain (Bedford) when it eventually opens. WARNING THERE WILL BE SPOILERS!!! The temperature was in the mid 30s so I’m glad that person wore a coat As you exit the metro station you’re spat straight onto City Walk. We decided to grab some breakfast and much needed coffee. I hate tomato  Breakfast eaten we joined a huge queue to enter the park and hoped that it wasn’t a sign of things to come. Chaotic  But it was as the park was very busy.  The rush We headed straight for Decepticoaster (773). Launched! Could have smiled for the photo mate Decepticoaster is the same ride layout as The Hulk (I think) at Universal Studios Florida. I thought that it rode better than my last ride on Hulk as this was glass smooth. A decent coaster but not one that would trouble a top ten list. We then headed round to ...
