It’s not very often that I watch games as a neutral, but it’s nice to watch a match without any emotional involvement! I have a rule which states, I will not attend another game involving a football league team when Cambridge are playing, except if it’s in the EFL Trophy.
DJ pointed me in the direction of this game, Brentford vs Leyton Orient, as the tickets were only £10 and it was a ground tick for both of us! It’s amazing how far out of London Brentford is. It took the same time to get from King’s Cross to Brentford as it did to get from Cambridge to London! Of course, upon arrival in Brentford we went straight to the pub.
If you need pub recommendations always ask Retired Martin
Great Harvey’s, Hophead and Fish and Chips what more could you want?
We then made the short walk to The Griffin (not Retired Martin recommended) one of the four pubs by Griffin Park.
I was hoping for an ESB, but had to settle for an average Guinness instead.
Griffin Park is long gone and now looks like this:
A really nice ground, the seats are close to the pitch and the view was good. Not sure why the seats are multi coloured though.
The game was also good. Brentford won 3-1, with Fabio Carvalho running the show. He scored a brilliant bicycle kick goal to cancel out Orient’s opener.
A great evening out. Mostly great beer and a ground tick. Thanks for reading.
To be fair, I wouldn't drink Bass in plastic either !
ReplyDeleteGriffin one of four pubs at each side of Griffin Park !
Apparently it’s plastic only on a match day!
