Any excuse for a pub crawl right? With a friend of the blog having a birthday, I headed to Hertford for a stroll around some Hertfordshire pubs! I think Hertford is a nice town and has a decent pub scene, if you ignore McMullens. You may be aware that McMullen’s are probably my least favourite brewery. I find their beers bland and usually very badly kept, even in their own pubs. We kick things off in The Great Eastern, right by Hertford North Station. Inside was a train lovers paradise! Plenty of train tat on display. The inside had a dive bar/ very locals pubs feel, almost as if the piano stopped when we walked in. We therefore headed to the garden. An eclectic beer garden for sure! Beer wise, it was McMullens, I opted for SIPA from McMullen’s ‘craft’ offshoot Rivertown. A pretty bland beer, not the best start. Next we made the short walk round the corner to Saracens Head. What a contrast! Inside was light, bright and modern! We again opted for the garden: A lovely Guinness in a
