Manchester is probably the most diverse beer city in The UK. It’s got traditional pubs, taprooms and trendy ‘craft’ places, the vast majority of places I’ve been in Manchester have been excellent! This is the story of my second pub trip to Manchester and I’m joined by legend of blog, Rach!
The trip started with a massive error, and it’s not having a night out before an away day, because that is always a good idea. It is using trains. I should have driven, still I got do my first delay and repay. Anyway, on to the beer!
We started at Hops & Boogie, as we needed to do some shopping in Sale.
The Squawk Porter went done a treat!
We then hopped on the tram and headed towards a strong contender for best taproom in The UK, Track.
Rainbow beer board! |
My least fave type of glass Track’s taproom is spacious, light and has good seating options. Oh and great beer! What more could you want? |
Living my best life. |
We then headed to another taproom, Sureshot.
I thought Northerners were immune to the cold? |
I opted for Hippo Highway, because the name made me laugh, and an oatcake porter.
My first visit here and it won’t be my last. A nice little taproom, with decent beer! We could have stayed longer, but we had a reservation for food at The Marble Arch to make!
I was excited for this one, I like Marble Beers!
The Rocket, above, was perfect! It was everything I wanted from a light bitter, and more!
The food here was also incredible. I opted for a steak pie, it was piping hot and absolutely delicious!
From The Marble Arch, we headed through the Manchester rain to The Crown & Kettle, a new pub to me.
Hidden Verse by Pentrich was decent. I wouldn’t say this pub was a top tier Manchester venue, but it did have a nice courtyard garden area!
Next up, we popped into Northern Monk.
A chocolate, caramel and biscuit porter was just the job! We have a bit list of places to visit and time was running out….. We then rushed to:
Where there was a beautiful site on the bar.
The City Arms is my fave traditional pub in Manchester, and one of my faves in the whole country. The Titanic Plum Porter was perfect, once again! I could have consumed it all evening, but there time for one more venue. Perhaps the best, was saved until last!
Cafe Beermoth is one of the country’s top beer venues. The choice and variety of beers is unrivalled, in my opinion. I had a pint of cask Schwarzbier, brewed by Torrside! It tasted just like the German stuff, so therefore was a fitting end to our night out.
Thanks for reading!
I think Plum Porter in the City Arms is as good as pubs get. You up there for Bolton ?
ReplyDeleteAgreed! Sadly not. But I’m off to Lincoln and Reading the following week!
