Wow it’s been a while! I’ve been really busy buying my first house and all the things that go with it! This wasn’t my first away day of the season but it is the first one that I have found time to write about! Fulham away is a cup tie I had wanted for years!
Let’s start from the beginning. Me and DJ decided to make a day of it and headed to London arriving at around 11am.
Our first point of call was of course to grab a pint.

I love Craft Beer Co! |
 |
Tasty! |
Sadly there was no Siren Craft Broken Dream on offer but a lovely pint of bitter soon made up for that. Broken Dream is perhaps not the most appropriate lunch time beer.
We then found a coffee and wandered over to the London Transport Museum, which we booked in advance.

Fake horses with fake (hopefully) poo |
The museum was decent. Plenty of old trains, buses and other vehicles to see. It took us just shy of a couple of hours to get round everything. Since the transport museum is located in Covent Garden it would have been rude to not pop into one of my favourite pubs, The Harp.

Cheers |
Scarlett Macaw by Oakham Ales was a welcomed surprise on the bar and tasted perfect!
We then decided to head towards Fulham, which was just as well as issues with the underground occurred after we had arrived. We went for a walk to Craven Cottage to see the ground in daylight hours.
 |
Cambridge are massive |
It was getting towards dinner time and we opted for a cheeky pre match spoons. A first visit to The Rocket, which was full of U’s fans!
 |
Yum! |
The bonus was the decent tasting Guinness, despite the rubbish pour!
It was then time to head back to the ground, where we were treated to a full on circus performed by the stewarding team whilst marshalling the team coaches in!
 |
Apparently standing in a line is difficult |
Once inside the ground we found our seats and checked out our surroundings.
 |
The cottage! |
I think Craven Cottage is the best ground I’ve been. The facilities were excellent, the view was great and it was the perfect venue to create an atmosphere in, because of how close you are to the pitch.
I then saw a sign:
Annoyingly what I didn’t see was the bar serving Guinness so instead I ended up with a Camden Hells, which was cold and wet.
It was then time for the game!

Yellows! |
I am so proud of my football club. The players gave everything against a really top side and honestly deserved something from the game. 5200 U’s sang their hearts out for the duration and earned deserved praise from the Fulham fans. Sadly endeavour is rarely enough and Fulham struck in the second half to take a 1-0 victory. It was however a really special night. Supporting a lower league club is purely down to the love of said club and the badge on your chest. Success is much rarer than failure and that’s what makes nights like this one so special. Football isn’t a TV show and supporting a football club is something you do because you’ve found somewhere that you belong.
