If you’re new here, I count and collect ‘creds’. One rollercoaster equals one cred. I hadn’t visited either of these family parks in well over a decade! A friend decided to have a birthday, so we decided to relive some childhood memories. As a child I was very lucky, I’d be at a theme park most weekends when Cambridge United played away. I had a Legoland annual pass and later upgraded to a Merlin Pass, as I got older. Anyway enough of a history lesson, let’s get to it.
There were three creds to get at Legoland!
557: Duplo Dino Coaster
558&559: Mini Figure Speedway:
Two brand new Zierer family boomerangs! I think these are a solid addition to the park, good family level thrills. The backwards part of these rides does make me feel a bit meh, which is strange because full size boomerangs don’t. With that, we had obtained all of the creds we needed at Legoland!
Flight of The Skyliom is bizarre. The storyline is based around animals that children have created from Lego, so it makes pretty much no sense. Most of the creations look and act like Pokémon. The ride is a flying theatre, but don’t expect anything like Soarin’. This is clearly a cheaper model. You can see the outline of the screen the whole time while riding, and some theming could easily to be put there to cover it.
We then had a ride on The Dragon, which was probably my number one cred in the early 2000s! We’d been in the park around an hour and it was already time to go! We did get look at some cool Lego dragons first though!
It took around an hour to get to Chessington, where a newish B&M was waiting for us!
560: Mandrill Mayhem
I rode it three times and I wasn’t that impressed. I expected such a new B&M to be glass smooth and it really wasn’t, there was quite a rattle! Perhaps B&M should stick to making big boy coasters! I did enjoy the rear seats, which face the opposite direction, I thought it gave a better ride experience.
We had lunch next, so decided to ride something light whilst our food got down us. The Guffalo was a decent family boat ride, where the boats are definitely not designed for four men! I do miss Bubbleworks, I miss the silliness of that ride! Below is me at the closing party for Bubbleworks!
I still love it! It still packs a little punch and decent amount of swing!
Next we walked round to Tomb Blaster. It had a lot of targets and effects broken when I last rode.
It’s had a bit of an update, yet many targets and effects still don’t work!
One thing that does work well is this:
I’m a big fan of Croc Drop! A really fun tower ride. 10/10 would ride again!
We then finished with another ride on Vampire and the B&M. A relaxed and productive day! It’s rare for me to get 4 creds at Uk parks these days, though I need to go to Brean….

Proper blogging. I did those parks with a Merlin pass in 2010; Chessington was good, Thorpe Park terrified me.
