London Craft Beer Festival 2024 - London’s Best Beer Festival?

My third time visiting the London Craft Beer Festival! It’s an event I look forward to every year! I’d booked well in advance and paid just £47.50, which includes all beers and priority entry.

Sadly the trains from Cambridge were not playing ball. All trains to King’s Cross were cancelled, meaning the Liverpool Street service was beyond busy. Once in London, we had one stop on the central line to Bank, followed by a DLR ride to Shadwell. The festival is held at Tobacco Dock, which is around a ten minute walk from Shadwell.

Best seat on the DLR?

Walking in

Glass collected, we headed towards the back of the festival.
People were queueing up for beers at the first few bars you get to!

It did not take me long to find Siren!

I like Tobacco Dock as a venue, it’s big enough and I like the little rooms, which adds a sense of adventure to finding a brewery! Some breweries are out in the main areas, others are in the little rooms or in the big halls on the second level.

Some have silly photo ops!

A few have games, where points mean prizes!

Naturally, I won at both!

At the festival you’ll find beers that are hard to find elsewhere:

New beers from favourite breweries:

And also old favourites:

You may even bump into beer friends:

Team Pastore!

Time always flies when you’re having fun. In the blink of an eye it was time to leave. Many great beers were consumed and a brilliant day was had! In my mind this is easily the best beer festival in London. I like the laid back and relaxed atmosphere. I love the selection of beers and the fact it’s pre paid unlimited tasters, which means no queues at the bar!

Can’t wait for next year!

N.b. The pasta beer was rubbish.

Supermarket Weep - Lidl

It’s been a while, but Supermarket Weep is back! The series where myself and some ‘lucky’ guests, try supermarket own brand beer and beers brewed specifically for supermarkets. In previous episodes we all went wild in the aisles of Tesco and Aldi. Welcome to Supermarket Weep - Lidl.  A piece of advice for you, don’t trust the terrible cupboard holders that these beers come in. I opted to go without a bag or a trolley and regretted that decision.  The beers all fell out of the cupboard and onto the floor. I stuffed my pockets with some of the beers, which caused my shorts to fall down. A new low for me is accidentally exposing myself in a Lidl… Trolley to the rescue! Ignore than BrewDog, that was for something else!  For this episode I was joined by friends of the blog, Dan and John. We kicked things off with Excelsior Lager, a French inspired beer. This was bad, like really bad. It’s a really watery beer, with a weird sweet taste. Awful.  Next up was San Marti...

Phantasialand - My Happy Place

Using the phrase happy place makes me feel a bit cringe, but I don’t really know how else to describe how much I love Phantasialand. If I close my eyes and think about where I’d most like to be in the world Phantasialand and The Abbey come straight to mind, and I know which one I’d have more fun in at the moment! Ever since my first visit back in 2016 I’ve been in love with Phantasialand and it was time to return after a two year absence. I couldn’t wait for two full days at Phantasialand! We pick this up following Moose On The Loose In Cologne ( Link! ) in snowy Brühl, around 20km south of Cologne. The sight of Brühl Schloss greets you as you exit the train station: UNESCO tick! The next morning we made the walk from the hotel to the park, just before this walk I was convinced to join Strava!  We arrived just before opening and received a golden welcome: The Berlin area Dragon Phantasialand has six dragons and now you’ve seen one of them! You may see more dragons later, but only i...

Moose On The Loose: Have I Found The Best Ever Crisp Flavour? Manchester.

Join me for another pub trip around Manchester! We will swing by some old favourites and potentially make some new ones! Really this is part one of the three part series, but part two is already released so let’s get to it! I headed straight for Track as soon as I made it off of the train at Manchester Piccadilly. Track is one of my all time favourite taprooms! I opted for the Aspern and Navigator. Aspern is a Vienna style lager and was really nice. Navigator is an Irish Dry style stout and whilst it was ok, I found it a bit sweet for my taste. Beers dispatched it was time for a trip round the corner to another old favourite!  Sureshot is another brilliant taproom! What Did I Say Roy? A west coast pale that really hit the dream spot of lingering bitterness and refreshment. We didn’t have far to go for the next pint!  Balance Taproom is almost next door to Sureshot! Balance specialise in fruited beers which aren’t really my thing, so I had a lager from Utopian Brewing. Ra...
