New Favourite Irish Coaster? Return Visit To Emerald Park!

Ireland’s premier theme park opened five coasters since my last visit in 2015. Back then the park was called Tayto Park, due to being sponsored by the well known crisp company!

Parking up, it was clear that the park had undergone wholesale changes since my last visit. Once inside the park we headed straight for Flight School (750).

The theming was really good, which was a surprise, it really did feel like going through an airport, without all of the tedious faffy people!
It was a really decent family coaster!

Next up was Fianna Force (751), a brand new Vekoma suspended thrill coaster.

It was excellent! The first drop took me by surprise, there was a good amount of airtime! We rode this coaster a few times. Towards the back is best because you get the forces, swinging and whip! Easily the best coaster in Ireland!

Quest (752) was next.

A junior boomerang. I really don’t like these and this one was gross. Will probably look really good when the theming is finished!

Cu Chulainn (232) was next. I last rode this in 2015!

It’s still meh, has a bit of a rattle.

What’s in the shed?

Dino Dash (753), home to a dinosaur who had seen better days…

I got spat on by a dinosaur… was ok for what it is.

Last cred was Ladybird Loop (754)

These things are literally everywhere. Dread to think how many I’ve ridden.

We then stopped for lunch.

The roast dinner was decent and only cost €13! You can barely get a burger at a Merlin park for that.

Post lunch we rode the water ride. I got absolutely drenched. It was an excellent water ride, with multiple drops and even a backwards section!

Our day finished with re-rides on Fianna Force before driving over the border to Northern Island, for a big Chinese and some beers.

Thanks for reading.

Supermarket Weep - Lidl

It’s been a while, but Supermarket Weep is back! The series where myself and some ‘lucky’ guests, try supermarket own brand beer and beers brewed specifically for supermarkets. In previous episodes we all went wild in the aisles of Tesco and Aldi. Welcome to Supermarket Weep - Lidl.  A piece of advice for you, don’t trust the terrible cupboard holders that these beers come in. I opted to go without a bag or a trolley and regretted that decision.  The beers all fell out of the cupboard and onto the floor. I stuffed my pockets with some of the beers, which caused my shorts to fall down. A new low for me is accidentally exposing myself in a Lidl… Trolley to the rescue! Ignore than BrewDog, that was for something else!  For this episode I was joined by friends of the blog, Dan and John. We kicked things off with Excelsior Lager, a French inspired beer. This was bad, like really bad. It’s a really watery beer, with a weird sweet taste. Awful.  Next up was San Marti...

Phantasialand - My Happy Place

Using the phrase happy place makes me feel a bit cringe, but I don’t really know how else to describe how much I love Phantasialand. If I close my eyes and think about where I’d most like to be in the world Phantasialand and The Abbey come straight to mind, and I know which one I’d have more fun in at the moment! Ever since my first visit back in 2016 I’ve been in love with Phantasialand and it was time to return after a two year absence. I couldn’t wait for two full days at Phantasialand! We pick this up following Moose On The Loose In Cologne ( Link! ) in snowy Brühl, around 20km south of Cologne. The sight of Brühl Schloss greets you as you exit the train station: UNESCO tick! The next morning we made the walk from the hotel to the park, just before this walk I was convinced to join Strava!  We arrived just before opening and received a golden welcome: The Berlin area Dragon Phantasialand has six dragons and now you’ve seen one of them! You may see more dragons later, but only i...

Moose On The Loose: Have I Found The Best Ever Crisp Flavour? Manchester.

Join me for another pub trip around Manchester! We will swing by some old favourites and potentially make some new ones! Really this is part one of the three part series, but part two is already released so let’s get to it! I headed straight for Track as soon as I made it off of the train at Manchester Piccadilly. Track is one of my all time favourite taprooms! I opted for the Aspern and Navigator. Aspern is a Vienna style lager and was really nice. Navigator is an Irish Dry style stout and whilst it was ok, I found it a bit sweet for my taste. Beers dispatched it was time for a trip round the corner to another old favourite!  Sureshot is another brilliant taproom! What Did I Say Roy? A west coast pale that really hit the dream spot of lingering bitterness and refreshment. We didn’t have far to go for the next pint!  Balance Taproom is almost next door to Sureshot! Balance specialise in fruited beers which aren’t really my thing, so I had a lager from Utopian Brewing. Ra...
